DAF 201: What Grant Writers can do about DAFs

Monday, November 18, 11:00 AM–12:30 PM CST (9AM PT / 12PM ET)

Join us for Part 2 of our DAF Teach-in for grant professionals, where we’ll look at ways to work to advocate for systems change both collectively and from our individual positions. We’ll have Community Centric Fundraising Global Council Member, Abigail Oduol sharing a presentation from her article, “Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) and Changing the Sector.”

Abigail Oduol CFRE (she/her) is a Community Centric Fundraising Global Council Member and a Planned Gifts Officer at Earthjustice. She has a Master’s in Transformational Urban Leadership. Part of Abigail’s college experience included a year and a half at St. Paul’s University in Kenya.

Abigail’s favorite nonprofit experiences were attending a humanitarian mission in Ecuador as a teen, and fundraising with Akiba Mashinani Trust on land rights and advocacy for urban slums.

Abigail enjoys watching Marvel IP, writing and engaging in general nerdery when not hanging out with her kids and husband.

Here at MTGW, we’re organizing a two-part teach-in:

This is Part 2. During DAF 101, Patrice Shumate, MTGW organizer, brought us through a deep dive so we could arm ourselves with facts on where the money comes from, where it goes, who is involved, and what impact it is making in the nonprofit sector.
