DAF 101: What grant writers need to know
Wednesday, October 23, 12:00 PM–1:30 PM CST (1PM EST / 10AM PST)
October 10th has recently been dubbed DAF Day to harness the growing popularity of Donor Advised Funds (popularity that has grown over 600% in the last decade).
What do DAFs have to do with grant writing, and why should we be curious? Well, with DAFs becoming the fastest-giving method in the U.S. (according to Candid), we should be concerned with how this affects the way charitable money is transacted. What if grantmaking becomes a thing of the past?
Here at MTGW, we’re organizing a two-part teach-in:
DAF 101, we will do a deep dive and arm ourselves with facts on where the money comes from, where it goes, who is involved, and what impact it is making in the nonprofit sector.
This will be followed by the DAF 201 session in November, where we’ll look at ways to work collectively and in our own positions to advocate for reform in the dark, unregulated parts of DAF creation and spending. Stay tuned!
